The individual product 'tiles' shown on collection pages (and anywhere a product grid appears, like a featured collection section). They typically include a product image, title, price, and sometimes badges or quick actions like Buy Now.
Product cards are where most “browsing decisions” get made. On a collection page, shoppers aren’t reading deeply, they’re scanning for a reason to click. That means your product card design (layout + what info you include) directly affects click-through rate from collection → product page.
In Shopify themes, product cards usually pull from the product’s core fields (title, featured image, price), but you can often enhance them using Shopify metafields and/or metaobjects, variant logic, badges, secondary images on hover, star ratings, color counts, etc. We don't want to cram everything in, but we want the right information to help people quickly tell products apart.
Great product cards reduce uncertainty. They answer fast questions like: “What is it?” “How is this different?” “Is it in stock?” “Is it new/best seller?” “What’s the price range?”
Examples / tips:
-
Add one small differentiator that matters: material, size, scent, format, “2-pack,” “refill,” “limited,” etc.
-
If your photography is consistent (which is good!), you may need more card-level info to prevent the grid from looking identical.
-
Common pitfall: relying on the product title to do all the work — especially when titles are poetic or techinical.
